Job Description

Position Summary

The SR. Brand Manager will play a key role in managing the development, marketing programs and strategies within Canada for key Corby and Pernod Ricard brands including, Absolut Vodka, Kahlua, Malibu Rum and Polar Ice Vodka

Key Responsibilities

Brand Execution:

  • Develop 360 degree programs for the Corby and Pernod Ricard brands including
  • Integrated marketing programs, combining a number of elements in the marketing mix (retail, on premise, media, public relations, experiential, digital, sponsorships etc.)
  • Set objectives and performance benchmarks for evaluation of activity
  • Ensure world-class execution that generates cut-through versus key competitor brands
  • Work with key Corby partner agencies on the development of key initiatives
  • Create and develop brand assets (ex. POS and media)
  • Where relevant, build in greater regionalization of activities in key Provinces across the major brands
  • Manage pricing strategy implementation on key brands across the Provinces
  • Initiate and coordinate activities with the Customer Marketing team i.e. Retail Programming & Category Management, Activity Calendars, Sponsorships, Events, and Training
  • Build strategy and manage Canadian Brand principals
  • Support Distillery Experience initiative

Brand Planning:

  • Develop annual Brand Plans, Long Range Plans and Brand Reviews
  • Present plans to Corby/Pernod Ricard Senior Management
  • Present plans and initiatives to Corby Sales teams and key customers
  • Help manage the Brand Owner relationships by being their key point of contact for Corby Marketing
  • Together with the Consumer Insights team, identify insights on the Canadian brands that will unlock future growth, and manage major brand research projects
  • Analysis/Performance tracking including: Working closely with analysts to provide detailed analysis of brand performance and competitor activity (pricing, distribution, promotion program performance, category reviews) and update and provide monthly reports on brand activity, competitive activity and pricing and distribution

Product/Marketing Innovation:

  • Together with the Innovation team, develop compelling concepts with clear business case
  • Build and manage innovation/renovation pipeline with the Innovation, Production and New-to-Market teams and ensure it is aligned to strategy
  • Ensure rigour on feasibility of new products and have the ability to scale up and commercialize new products
  • Post launch evaluation against set KPIs

Budget Management:

  • Manage brand A&P budgets; Setting yearly budget, working with regions to allocate funds between Sales & Marketing & ensuring spend is on track versus annual budget targets
  • Where necessary, make recommendations to the Senior Brand Manager
  • Evaluation of marketing activities:
  • Ensure all major brand initiatives (>$50,000) are formally evaluated, with summary conclusions and recommendations
  • Share the results of evaluation internally with key stakeholders and agree on next steps

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in Brand Management in CPG arena
  • Previous experience managing direct reports
  • University Degree or equivalent work experience
  • Solid experience in brand planning and market/consumer research
  • Previous experience managing budgets and analyzing ROI
  • Self-motivated and self-directed with the ability to work individually and as part of a collaborative team
  • Language skills - French is an asset
