The National Account Manager is responsible for managing major accounts, national in scope, maximizing sales and profit potential and account value through the development and implementation of account specific strategies and tactics.


  • Works effectively with team members to ensure all department goals are met
  • Utilizing a full range of data sources to prepare and conduct effective, fact-based Category presentations to retail/wholesale Category and Merchandise management.
  • Develop and execute a by banner and by category a joint business plan that delivers on customer and company annual objectives.
  • Achieves distribution, pricing, promotion, and merchandising objectives within our categories through proper planogram placement
  • Defines specific strategic business objectives to maximize sales, growth, and enhanced profitability for assigned brand portfolio.
  • Works with Marketing team to develop account specific programs to achieve distribution of new and existing products through display, merchandising, as well as category and shelf management.
  • Work individually and across internal teams such as Sales, Marketing, Business Planning, and Logistics to problem solve and drive results
  • Establish, develop and enhance business relationships with key buyers and category managers at major national accounts. Accountablenot only for maintaining major accounts, but also for account expansion and targeting of new customers.
  • Maintains and monitors stock status as it relates to account responsibility and communicates any changes of demand planning to the operations team.
  • Assist in developing and implementing national sales campaigns and sales strategies for major accounts
  • Responsible for participating in trade shows and conferences
  • Responsible for ongoing analyses of retail conditions through various data sources
  • Manages promotional budget and forecast to meet sales and company objectives
  • Perform other duties as assigned


  • Education: BA degree is preferred
  • 5+ years of sales/marketing experience CPG industry. Must have experience with at least one of the following national retail chains – Shoppers Drug Mart, Loblaws, Walmart.
  • At least 3+ years experience in launching new products.
  • Position requires confidence and experience in a customer facing role, preferably using business-to-business consultative selling, with professional organizations.
  • Excellent presentation/communication/organizational/influencing/problem solving/negotiating skills, both written and verbal, required.
  • Self-starter capable of delivering on goals with minimal supervision
  • Superior knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point and CRM systems.
  • Ability to travel domestic (primarily) and international (occasionally) locations (overnight travel required), which may include weekend travel
  • Candidate must reside in GTA
  • Knowledge of CPG industry
  • Valid driver`s license
