Job Description

Westrow is searching for a Retail Merchandising Representative in Atlantic Canada, in the provinces of Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. The position will ideally be based in Halifax, Saint John or Moncton.


Reporting to Westrow Retail Management, the Retail Sales, Merchandising and Brand Specialist is responsible for ensuring that Westrow's client base is represented to the highest level of quality and professionalism at the retail level.

Each retail representative is a key component in facilitating the movement of product through the major accounts' retail locations in their respective market through relationship building with key departmental contacts and ensuring the highest level of customer service possible.


  • Represents Westrow Food Group and its Clients in Atlantic Canada, in the territory as defined by Westrow
  • Serves retail stores as described in the call coverage/frequency plan assigned to the territory by the Retail Manager with the objective of maximizing our Clients' sales
  • Obtain, maintain and inform the company on all competitive information
  • Executes and monitors all clients' point-of-sale marketing initiatives (i.e. couponing, placement of signage, etc…)
  • Provides retail reporting electronically using a tablet PC provided by the Company
  • Performs any regularly assigned administrative tasks including but not limited to: monthly retail price reports, call reports, submission of timely and accurate monthly expense & call reports and providing updated pricing information for entry into our database by the Sales Coordinator
  • Serves all customers in a professional, courteous and effective manner while maintaining a professional appearance
  • Fosters excellent trade relationships with retail store personnel as well as area departmental merchandisers/specialists
  • Performs all retail calls between the hours of 7:00AM -- 4:00PM, Monday to Friday
  • Is available via telephone, daily e-mail checks and response are also a required function of this position
  • Attends all sales meetings scheduled by the Company (unless otherwise discussed with and approved by the Retail Manager)


  • Strong negotiation, interpersonal and independent work skills
  • Demonstrates some knowledge of basic marketing principles
  • Ability to manage contacts and associated relationships at the retail level -- highly organized
  • Ideally resides in one of Halifax, St. John or Moncton
  • High degree of professionalism and credibility
  • Customer focused with excellent problem solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent listening and communications skills
  • A can-do attitude and keen desire to learn
  • Intermediate computer skills including e-mail and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc…)
  • Must possess own vehicle and valid driver's license
  • Post-Secondary education is an asset, but not required
