Job Description

Sunstar Americas, Inc. has been a respected leader in the design, manufacture, and distribution of breakthrough oral health care products of the highest quality for the past 90 years. Our brands GUM and Butler are known worldwide. We continue to take an active role in the worldwide advancement of oral health and dental care.

This position supports the marketing team and acts as the ambassador for the brand. The primary focus of this position will be to assist in developing and executing a brand strategy that aligns with overall business objectives that will support the marketing and leadership teams in driving growth and meeting overall objectives for the GUM brand. This position is a hybrid position of work from our Guelph office and work from home.

Principal Duties

A. Primary Responsibilities:

  • Act as the “ambassador” for the brand, holding accountability and ownership of the strategic development and performance of the brand.
  • Assist in developing, implementing, and leading the brands business plan to achieve financial, volume and profit goals within the category.
  • Assist in ensuring alignment and execution of the marketing strategy.
  • Assist in ensuring synergy of Marketing plans with Sales operations.
  • Working with sales and trade marketing to assist in developing commercial strategies.
  • Utilize research data to its fullest potential to assist in continuously optimizing performance.
  • Coordinating brand activities with suppliers and internal team to ensure on budget implementations.
  • Oversee the day-to-day brand management administration, such as commercial planning inputs, consumer or customer programing, analytical reviews, circulation of content approvals etc.
  • Be accountable for budget management and tracking.
  • Be accountable to support the development and execution of content development with brand managers and agency partners.
  • Working closely with sales to assist in ensuring retail programs are running in line with brand strategy.
  • Update and track key metrics on websites, social media, and search programs.
  • Work closely and collaboratively with the Marketing Managers, Operations, Sales, Finance, R&D and Regulatory teams.
  • Other duties pertaining to assisting with product innovation, budget management and brand execution.

B. Communication

  • Excellent communication skills, written, electronic and verbal with a flair for storytelling
  • Has strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build connections and networks
  • You have a curious, data-driven nature, and are passionate about brand building
  • Communicate internal and external information to staff and business units.
  • Speak effectively and clearly in one-to-one conversations and in groups.
  • Listen actively and convey understanding of questions and comments.

Job Specifications

A. Education

  • The position seeks an undergraduate degree in related field, i.e. Bachelor of Business Administration or Bachelor of Commerce.
  • Has 1-3 years of brand marketing or related experience in Consumer Health care or CPG.

B. Knowledge/Experience/Skills

  • Familiar with social, digital media platforms and executions including search.
  • Project Management skills, ensuring all tasks are completed well and in a timely manner.
  • Nielsen experience.
  • Strong excel and power point skills.
  • Has demonstrated strategic thinking with the ability to approach challenges analytically and creatively to identify solution, often with limited information.
  • Has proven project management ability with a bias for action.
  • Has courage, resiliency, and tenacity to champion initiatives from start to end.
  • Demonstrate a sense of accountability and detail oriented.
  • Strong analytical and planning skills.
  • Good understanding of business and show professionalism.
