Job Description

We are a growing North American sales and marketing office that specializes inconsumer-basedproducts includingautomotive accessories, consumer lighting products and household goods under national and house brands.

The Product Specialist position will be working in a fast-paced, data-driven environment with opportunities to make decision that have impact in the market. Duties and responsibilities include the following:

  • Assist with product development including finalizing product assortments, reviewing samples, and providing input on changes
  • Coordinate communication between local office and international headquarters
  • Farm the European catalogue and showroom for programs to migrate to North America
  • Master item file creation and maintenance
  • Conduct market research on new categories
  • Assist as a Product expert on sales calls where needed
  • Conduct product testing as needed
  • Participate in tradeshows as a vendor
  • Walk industry trade shows with a critical eye

Qualifications:

  • Five-plus years in product development of hard goods
  • Experience designing or developing products for retail
  • Team playerwith the ability to work on high collaboration and performance teams
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong business acumen
  • Experience in retail brand development
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office (Excel and PowerPoint)
  • You should have a good understanding on how to critique product during the development process
  • Experience in created a competitive landscape, finding the white space in a program and the ability to review a product or category and understand how to make it better
  • Should have good logic and reasoning and an understanding of shipping, ocean freight, container builds, and how duties and freight rates affect costs of product
  • You analytical mind helps you actively participate in product development
  • An engineering or design degree is a plus
  • Ability to work from home as well as our Vaughan based office (50/50 split) based on business needs.
  • Ability to travel within Canada, to the US and overseas
