Job Description


We are seeking an experienced Category Advisor for Walmart. This role is a senor member of the Cats team, mentorsjunior employees andutilizes SCJ consumer, shopper & market research to suggest strategies for implementation with Walmart, while providing confidential support to grow the category business.

Primary Accountabilities:

Retailer Support:

  • Analyze product mix, distribution, shelf placement, pricing and promotion recommendations

  • Provide advice to retailer of ways to optimize category growth

  • Provide monthly tracking reports that identify opportunities for growth along with recommendations to improve category performance vs. targets

  • Create retailer store planograms that support the retailer’s strategic objectives

  • Utilize shopper insight data to anticipate changes in consumers’ lifestyles and shopping preferences and implement in store opportunity solutions to address the changes

  • Liaise with SCJ worldwide Category Management teams to draw ideas and best practices

  • Recommend e com tactics to accelerate growth in that priority channel

    Internal Sales Account Team Support

  • Share non-confidential best practice examples that support the SCJ sales priorities, SCJ strategic initiatives and accelerate category growth in the market

  • Support the account planning process by providing CDI/BDI templates that identify opportunity gaps and suggested executions to close the gap without using confidential Walmart information

  • Category Champion for 1 Category TBC (maintaining a current and relevant CATS category sharepoint site, cross functional and global category communication).

  • Subject Matter Expert training of other junior CATS team members in the areas of AC Nielsen Marketrack tools, Prospace and insight led story building.

    Skills and Education:

  • University Degree (essential requirement) preferably in Business
  • 2+ years previous Category Advisor experience (essential requirement)
  • Experience using AC Nielsen data (essential requirement)
  • 2+ experience using Prospace
  • Ability to think strategically, champion change, influence others
  • Advanced analytical skills
  • Adaptable and client focused.Able to build strong customer relationships
  • Able to master sales software and financial systems
  • Able to turn data into actionable information
