Job Description

Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Manager, Sales Finance is the key liaison between Finance and Sales with the purpose of providing effective financial support and control, including reporting and analysis. The incumbent will work closely with the Revenue Management team to assess customer profitability and provide recommendations regarding investment and spending.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead monthly reviews of trade spend to identify any risks, gaps and opportunities
  • Monitor and review trade spend accrual balances on a monthly basis to identify any risks, gaps and opportunities
  • Leads the Financial reviews for each planning cycle with the Sales team to ensure trade spend is planned accurately
  • Ensure trade spend expenses are captured accurately in ERP system and in compliance with Finance manual
  • Lead monthly reviews of Sales Operating expenses (OPEX) and provide variance analysis versus budget
  • Provide financial guidance to Sales Directors to ensure proper planning of Sales OPEX
  • Provide financial leadership for the Sales team to develop and measure promotional guardrails
  • Support Customer negotiations by providing accurate analytics
  • Prepare and present Direct Customer Contribution statements on an annual basis and for each planning cycle
  • Partner with Revenue Management to analyze Customer initiatives and provide recommendations that will optimize profitability
  • Participate in the improvement of trade spend planning in Trade Pro (TPM)
  • On - going monitoring of promotions planned in Trade Pro
  • Collaborate with other departments to improve current BI tool (Cognos) and create efficiencies in trade spend reporting
  • Lead, support various strategic and cross functional projects
  • Lead annual audit reviews as it relates to trade spend]
  • Responsible for providing support and guidance to a team of four direct reports

Qualifications:

  • Professional accounting designation – CA, CMA or CGA required
  • 5-7 years’ experience in a similar role within the CPG Industry
  • Working knowledge of Trade Spend
  • Previous experience partnering with Sales or Marketing departments
  • Excellent communication, organization and planning skills and able to meet tight deadlines
  • Aptitude using ERP system (preference to JD Edwards), analytical software (preference Cognos) reporting software (preference Cognos), Microsoft Office Suite (strong Excel)
  • Strong attention to detail and need to define and adhere to clear processes
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively partner with and advise assigned business groups to achieve desired results
  • Ability to perform in a demanding dynamic environment
