Job Description

The Finished Goods Planner plans, create and manage the packaging production schedule in a way that maximizes production efficiencies, reduces the overall investment in inventory, and maintains a high level of customer service, while taking into consideration the company’s commitment to our seven Core Values such as Sustainability (people, the planet, and profit) in the planning and implementation of all actions related to the area of responsibility.

  • Review packaging production requirements and create a detailed production schedule at the machine level by least overall cost but highest service rate
  • Review MRP prompts, action reports ,OOS and Low Inventory reports to determine what changes need to be made to the schedule to accommodate latest demand change with balance between production efficiency and completion timing
  • Create and maintain jobs while considering the packaging materials, bulk and resources available to manufacture packaged products by the required dates; prepare job documents accordingly
  • Guide scheduler to perform the detail capacity planning on constraints like machine, labor, space; Review the scheduled load and compare it to the capacities available at machine level and adjust the schedule to alternative with maximum capacity utilization and overall highest output rate accordingly
  • Instruct scheduler to manage and update the production schedule by ERP Syspro and other scheduling tools like Moxie, MES, NFlab, etc.
  • Work with Procurement, Bulk Planning to coordinate the timing of materials/components required and follow up with Warehouse, QC, QA to expedite accordingly
  • Facilitate Packaging, Manufacturing to ensure the planned schedule is executed efficiently by attainment and adherence tracking. Able to manage bottleneck by theory of constraint.
  • Collaborate withscheduler to prioritize and expedite the flow of jobs and materials within or between departments including, but not limited to, Procurement, Logistics, Warehousing, Quality, Manufacturing according to changes from forecast or sales orders
  • Analyze inventory levels associated to packaging production in comparison to demand variation and future forecast to determine best combination of FGs, bulk, packagingcomponents with reasonable safety stock
  • Feedback the incorrect primary work center/machine in ERP routing setup; schedule default machine to highest run machine by code level; Provide suggestion on planning inputs such as lead times, batching rules, EBQsand work centres
  • Lead regular packaging schedule review meeting to track output and solve issues in real-time; interact with Production management on a daily basis to resolve issues regarding efficiency or customer service and accounting issues as requested, and adjust schedule upon latest change to meet service requirement by minimized interruption
  • Work with scheduler to provide suggestions to Production manager, supervisor on staffing plan by machines and OT requirements with sense of cost
  • MRP long term capacity review and analysis tosupport labor/machine/space decision making as part of S&OP process
  • Initiate valuable changes on flow, processes, reports, scheduling, systems, tools for continuous improvement on service, costand quality
  • Follow and adhere to all given instructions including work procedures, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP)
  • Strictly adhere to and observe all safety policies as outlined in the company policies and training sessions

Requirements

Technical

  • College degree or equivalent on Supply Chain, Engineering
  • Excellent working knowledge of BOM, MRP, routing, detail capacity planning, production execution and inventory control systems
  • Good understanding of lead-time, production processes, shift staffing, priority, sense of cost and workforce management
  • 5+ years’ experience of planning in continuous production pattern in a Manufacturing environment

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and Syspro software
  • APICS – CPIM, IBF or Operating Management Certification an asset
  • Pharmaceutical or food industry experience an asset
