SALES MANAGER

Location: GTA

SUMMARY

This role is for those who possess exemplary leadership skills, people management and a solution-based approach to achieve our goals in Ontario while collaborating with all departments to ensure strong synergies and results.

MANAGERIAL STRUCTURE

  • Reports directly to the Provincial Sales Manager.
  • This position has direct reports.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Promotes positive working relationships across the organization and with customers.
  • Demonstrates Gallo and Agency sales priorities through coaching, modelling, and physical demonstration.
  • Conducts sales and wine education training to the customer.
  • Provide sales support and expertise to maximize results and process efficiencies.
  • Demonstrates how to merchandise product and build displays.
  • Conducts wine tastings.
  • Ensures timely and efficient sales execution of priorities and objectives.
  • Manages personal business expenses (meals, transportation, and lodging) and monitors subordinate business expenses.
  • Schedules and executes team member field days in market, conducting ride-alongs with each team member monthly, providing coaching, and surveying accounts.
  • Responsible for managing field team execution across all channels including LCBO, LCO/LCBO Agency, Grocery and On Premise.
  • Must maintain satisfactory attendance, to include timeliness.
  • Responsible for understanding and complying with applicable quality, environmental and safety regulatory considerations. If accountable for the work of others, responsible for ensuring their understanding and compliance.

Supporting Customer Development Functions:

  • Develops an understanding of Category Management to analyse market, sales, forecast data, etc. to identify business opportunities and develop recommendations and plans to execute against them.
  • Presents on-going business reviews to key customer personnel and educates customer personnel on the wine category.
  • Provides data analysis and reporting to customers, which includes interpreting and disseminating results to customers and helping identify business opportunities.
  • Directly interfaces with customer category decision makers to influence their category management practices as their key point of contact for all retail channels of business for the liquor board (Retail, Specialty Services, Private Order & Depot)
  • Develops positive relationships: winery, and customer organizations.
  • Sells "Best Practices" concepts, philosophies, and innovations to the retailer.
  • Provides counsel on business related issues; creates customized business solutions and recommendations.
  • Provides guidance and education to users regarding data tools, internal data usage, and best practices.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develops, coaches and mentor’s subordinate staff.
  • Conducts performance evaluations; recommends salary adjustments; rewards employees or takes disciplinary action as necessary; addresses complaints and resolves issues.

RESTRICTIONS

The Sales Manager has no authority to negotiate or conclude sales contracts, solicit sales, accept sales orders, or determine sales prices.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Bachelor's degree, plus 2 to 4 years of Wine Sales experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience working for a Multi-National Corporation.
  • Experience working with chain distributions.

SKILLS

  • Skilled to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Skilled to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Experience speaking effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Experience calculating figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Experience applying the concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Experience solving practical problems and dealing with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Experience interpreting a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Required to see, smell and taste wine as part of wine tasting.
  • Required to lift, move, and stack product cases, up to 50 lbs.
  • Required to travel by air and car as part of job duties.
  • Required to maintain a valid G driver license and acceptable driving record.
  • Required to obtain Liquor License as mandated by provincial and local laws.
