Position Summary:

The Machine Operator, under the direction of the Production Team Leader, will primarily be responsible to ensure compliance with company policies and standards for production demands, waste reduction, quality and safety. This position will ensure high standards of workmanship and efficiency and will be the resource for all team members on the assigned machines including break scheduling, training and assignments of tasks. The Machine Operator must possess experience in a manufacturing or related field experience.


  • Ensure compliance with company policies and standards for production, waste reduction, quality, safety, and training.
  • Allocates labor provided in the most efficient manner while maintaining work safety, product quality, and meeting production schedules.
  • Attends Daily Direction Setting activities
  • Coaches and mentor packaging associates on SOP’s at different line stations.
  • Detect equipment malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjust machine, controls, or control media within capabilities as required to ensure quality of production.
  • Ensure proper use of required personal protective equipment at all times.
  • Follow manufacturing and processing procedures, set machine or equipment controls, carry out production and inspection processes.
  • Perform daily centerline and safety checks on all machines.
  • Mark, record, and report defective products.
  • Maintain a clean working area free from dirt and debris between tasks and at end of day
  • Resolve work problems and recommend measures to improve work safety, food quality, and efficiency.
  • Set up, operate and maintain a variety of machines vertical form fillers, conveyors, metal detectors, weight checkers, and box makers used in the packaging department.
  • Closely monitor machines for signs of problems while ensuring output is meeting set specifications.
  • Communicate with supervisor, quality, and maintenance personnel to resolve machining or quality issues.
  • Position and install parts, subassemblies, and accessories using hand tools.
  • Remove parts or completed products from conveyors and manually pack goods into bags, boxes, or other containers.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications, Education & Experience:

  • Three years of related manufacturing experience.
  • Experience working with conveyers, metal detectors, check weighers, or vertical form filler are an asset.
  • Must have experience leading a team (5-15 members)
  • Ability to train, coach and work well with others.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner
  • Ability to lift heavy objects, walk, and stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to prioritize and manage conflicting demands

Work Conditions

  • Exposure to hazards associated with the industry/trade
  • Must be able to work in a temperature controlled environment (6-10C)
  • Use of required personal protective equipment
  • Face mask and face shields are mandatory
  • Operation and use of necessary tools, machinery, or equipment
  • Extended periods of standing, and other physically demanding conditions
  • Lifting, moving, or manipulating objects up to (25) kilograms
