Position Summary:

The Human Resources Generalist works closely with the senior HR management team and is responsible for supporting all staffing, learning & development and other HR processes and programs focused on growing the capability and engagement of ConAgra Foods Canada employees. This role is accountable for the professional execution of all phases of recruitment and selection including hourly and salaried employees and for various roles in the business; internal domestic as well as supporting, and in some cases, managing HR programs and projects supporting leadership and employee development.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

Recruitment /Staffing /Payroll / Benefits

  • coordinates requisition approval process, posting process, resume management and communication with Hiring Manager to ensure deliverables are communicated and adhered to.
  • Conducts telephone screens, in-person interviews with candidates.
  • Provides feedback and makes candidate recommendations to Sr. HR Manager or HR Manager.
  • Arranges interviews for Hiring Manager and where necessary other Managers
  • Coordinates with candidates regarding availability, interview confirmation and follow-up
  • Communicates with Staffing Agencies when required
  • Prepares offer letters
  • On site payroll administration & benefits coordination in concert with CAG corporate HR team
  • Site lead in HRIS management

Learning & Development / Labour Relations

  • Works with HR Manager to coordinate learning & development processes as needed.
  • Supports Talent Management activities throughout the organization, based on direction from HR Managers
  • Reviews and makes recommendations that enhance the current learning & development processes.
  • Oversees and manages the Educational Reimbursement Program for CAG Canada
  • Supports site labour relations efforts

HR Projects

  • A strong player on the business team, the HRG assists in driving strategic people initiatives to ensure alignment with organizational goals
  • Work on national HR projects and programs: planning and implementing projects (timelines and milestones) for key initiatives, both regional and national in scope.
  • HR Generalist may be asked to provide HR support for specified business unit

Competencies Required

  • Post-Secondary education in HR Management or Business Administration with 3+ years of generalist HR experience. CHRP designation is an asset
  • Keen attention to detail; identifying errors and making recommendations
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills; ability to work with all levels of the organization at any time.
  • Strong communication skills - both written and verbal
  • Ability to see the bigger picture - how the processes connect with one and other and recommend efficiencies
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities
  • Experience in a unionized environment is an asset
  • Previous payroll / benefit experience is an asset
