Position summary:

The Manager S&OP Planning provides strategic direction and leadership in the development and maintenance of on-going volume forecasts as well as in creating production and inventory plans supporting their domestically produced, or produced for Canada items. Leads Domestic S&OP process to manage and align business and supply chain to deliver net sales, customer service, working capital and operating margin targets. Works with Commercial teams to managing the execution of new business opportunities to support our recipe for growth.

Responsibilities:

  • For Domestic items oversee the planning, positioning and maintenance of finished goods inventories to effectively balance customer service levels, inventory carrying costs and optimal transportation.
  • Oversee domestic demand and supply planning group.
  • Oversee and drive team facilitation of the monthly S&OP volume consensus process including maintenance of rolling 18 month consensus demand plans. Influence and hold key partners in brand, sales, and finance accountable for consistent forecast inputs and address input gaps.
  • Voice of the Supply Chain to proactively communicate current and potential problems and opportunities to Senior Management, Sales, Marketing and Customer Service so they can make appropriate decisions. Work with Business Team to resolve any problems.
  • Measure key service and inventory metrics .
    • Establish multi-level annual forecast accuracy targets and targets for working capital, aged inventory and inventory coverage for supply optimization .
    • Measure weekly/monthly forecast error results versus established targets and identify and report on root cause for forecast error above targets.
    • Work to continuously improve all metrics and reporting processes.
  • Holistic accountability for S&OP KPI’s and Provides direction on focus of key performance indicators to drive cost and service strategies
  • Ability to strategically influence and participate in joint development of the ways-of- working together with external co-packers, to drive efficiencies for both parties
  • Close connectivity with Co-man teams, external copackers and CAG manufacturing facilities to drive issue resolution, efficiencies, and process developments and improvements
  • Develop methodology and processes for managing FreshPack Businesses to analyse 18-22 month rolling demand requirements, solid assumptions documentation, and evaluation and assessment of supply coverages requirement to cover business requirements
  • Monitor & reporting of inventory to maximize sales revenue by managing aged stock, discontinued items, and restricted stock (hold, damage, etc.). Provide leadership in identifying and tracking of distressed and potentially distressed inventory as well as lead efforts to reduce liability and maximize return on distressed inventory.
  • Provide leadership in developing supply chain team members, including talent management, succession planning and professional education.

Qualifications, Education & Experience:

  • B.S degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Supply Chain, Finance or related field. MBA/advanced degree a plus.
  • 10-15 years supply chain experience in positions of increasing responsibility.
  • 5 years’ experience leading people and teams
  • Strong understanding of Supply Chain Management and demand-based replenishment strategy.
  • Strong understanding of Supply Chain IT transaction systems and information flow (supply network planning, demand planning, finite capacity planning, finite scheduling, MRP and WMS).
  • Experience in and/or exposure to S&OP processes and procedures, customer planning and/or supply planning.
  • Experience with all aspects of the supply chain, including planning, manufacturing operations, purchasing, transportation, warehousing, deployment and inventory management is ideal.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Highly collaborative leadership style.
  • Ability to lead effectively and handle conflict in cross-functional integration role.
  • Experience in change management and work redesign initiatives.
  • Strong influence management skills.
  • Ability to manage cross-operating group/cross-functional resources without the use of direct reports.
  • Ability to interact with various levels of the organization. Ability to communicate within all levels of the organization.
