Job Description

Vice President, Sales (Consumer Goods - Hardware)

Our client, a leading Consumer Goods – Hardware Company, located in Vaughan, ON is looking to hire a Vice President, Sales to join their team on a Permanent, Full-Time basis.

Reporting to the General Manager, this role will be responsible for leading a team of top performers, developing sales objectives and metrics, establishing sales territories and quotas, managing budgets and evaluating sales performance.

The Vice President, Sales will also organize, lead and execute sales growth initiatives, be responsible for continued development of strategic business relationships and for identifying opportunities for continued growth.

All strategies and tactics must support the company’s long term and short-term growth goals and the company’s value of consumer-centered service. The results must be achieved within a strong, positive, collaborative culture while providing vision and leadership for the sales team, all sales strategies and their execution.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Sales & Business Development Strategy

  • Develop, communicate and execute a comprehensive, short- and long-term sales and business development strategy
  • Implement corporate strategy to meet New Business targets for Revenue Growth

2. Lead Sales Execution

  • Develop and refine sales process, reporting and forecasting sales activity
  • Establish sales objectives by forecasting and developing annual sales targets for regions and individuals
  • Establish growth objectives for all customers/classes of trade, and track performance against these objectives

3. Budget Management:

  • Manage T&E expenses, making effective and budget-sensitive decisions

4. Retail Execution:

  • Ensure that all Company customers are in compliance with Company retail standards
  • Monitor and enforce company pricing programs with retailers
  • Monitor competitive and market activity and provide feedback and recommendations to executive team
  • Maintain quality customer service by designing and enforcing standards, training representatives, monitoring performance, surveying sales approaches, and evaluating outcomes

5. Business Relationships Development

  • Develop and maintain relationships with customers while identifying new opportunities

6. Team Development

  • Coach, lead and mentor staff, including:
    • Hire and retain talent that fit our culture
    • Motivate and provide on-going direction
    • Manage performance standards and expectations
    • Conduct performance and salary reviews
    • Mentor employees in order to develop their skills and career path within the company
    • Determine employee development and training

7. Other

  • Collaborate with Marketing & PR personnel to build and execute trade marketing initiatives
  • Where applicable, work trade shows representing Company

Education and/or Experience:

  • Four-year degree from an accredited university or college
  • Minimum of 10 years sales experience, preferably at a consumer products company, with proven success directly managing Regional and National Hardware retailers
  • Minimum 5 years management experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
