Senior Commercial Brand Manager (Consumer Goods)

Our client, a leading Canadian company in the Importation, Distribution and Marketing of Best-in-Class Brands, is looking to hire a Senior Commercial Brand Manager on a full-time, permanent basis.

Reporting to the Managing Director, European Brands, the Senior Commercial Brand Manager will take their passion for building brands at retail to the next level by leveraging insights from consumer, category, competition and trends to build strong go-to-market plans that drive brand growth.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops, leads and executes strategic business plans for brands to deliver against annual brand targets. Business planning will include; go-to-market strategies, budgeting, promotion planning and execution, demand planning, as well as market research.
  • Pitching plans to international clients, gaining alignment, funds to support and providing ongoing reporting on business results, programs and promotions.
  • Owns trade spend budget, and oversees allocation to achieve brand/company goals in sales and market share, including promotional deals, POS, swag, trade show materials, branded assets at retail locations and retail activation programs.
  • Owns the development and management of the brand P&L
  • Oversees and collaborates in the development of sales materials, category selling stories, and brand specific business plan presentations for Sales team.
  • Maintains in-depth understanding of the consumer, category, competition, and trends and transforms into insights and opportunities to grow brands.
  • Reviewing and analyzing data to provide costing & pricing recommendations.
  • Establishing distribution and household penetration targets for brands.
  • Provides strategic input into the overall short and long-term new product development agenda including special formats and/ or new product launches.
  • Reviewing products in market, and rationalizing skus where needed to maximize success of brands at retailers.
  • Partnering with Sales to review and approve retail marketing programs and promotions, and analyzing program results to make recommendations for continual improvement.
  • Partnering with Brand Marketing to review and approve consumer facing programs and promotions, and analyzing promotion results to make recommendations for continual improvement.
  • Collaborating with Sales on joint business plans with retailers to achieve the total business plan.
  • Provides guidance on forecasting for innovations and promotional programs working in close collaboration with Sales Operations, Brand Management and Procurement.
  • Plans regular meetings with clients and internal teams to keep parties up to date on the state of the business.
  • Other duties as required.

EDUCATION:

  • Post Secondary Education (Business, Finance, Marketing, or related).

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 5+ year of trade marketing/ sales strategy experience; consumer packaged goods experience within the food industry ideal.
  • In depth knowledge of CPG and Grocery Retail industry.
  • Strong business and financial acumen, strategic thinking, tactical execution and analytical skills.
  • Ease with managing clients and presenting to partners and stakeholders.
  • Experience with syndicated data (i.e., Nielsen or IRI) and category management.
  • Proficiency with retail POS data platforms such as IRI, Precima, and Retail Link.
  • Comprehensive technical skills that include being proficient in Microsoft Office.
