Job Description

C.B.Powell (CBP) is a 3rd generation, 75-year-old family run food distribution partner that services the Canadian retail, industrial and foodservice channels Nationally across Canada. CBP is looking for a proven/driven sales leader. The Director of Sales will collaborate with stakeholders across the business (Business Managers, E.V.P., Key Accounts, Internal Team Members, Sales Partners, and more) to delivering sales and profit to all CBP’s brands. The Director of Sales will lead the sales team’s execution of each brand’s strategic and forecasted objectives to achieve sales targets. The Director of Sales will lead National sales efforts and drive revenue growth.

The applicant will be solely responsible for managing the sales efforts of CBP’s entire portfolio of clients while actively pitching new business. You will also manage communication between Business Managers and Key Account/ Sales Partners to ensure quality execution.

An entrepreneurial doer who is receptive to change and motivated by challenges will thrive in this role. One must be persistent and compelling in their relationship development skill set, while also demonstrating deep understanding of the grocery/ CPG landscape with sound sales acumen, and a healthy ability to work independently and collaboratively.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop annual sales strategy, annual sales plans and monthly goals and tactics that achieve desired strategic short and long-term goals in growth and profitability
  • Strategically and creatively build and manage a sales pipeline with timely and accurate forecasting while maintaining a high level of activity
  • Develop and build relationships with key accounts to ensure positive influence on business opportunities for all brands. Be proactive and persistent with partners bringing them solution-oriented ideas to meet their business challenges
  • Work closely with senior leadership to create a harmonized sales strategy and execution plan that achieves company goals including revenue expectations, budgets and forecasting
  • Internal Reports into this position – Regional Business Managers, Sales Coordinator, Sales Analyst
  • Develop metrics to monitor all customer and channel sales results; adjust strategy and tactical execution as needed to achieve company goals; develop a scorecard to measure effectiveness, ensure effective execution of tactical plans
  • Work cross-functionally with all CBP teams
  • New Business Development: Work with E.V.P. to develop and execute a plan on pitching new business to the company
  • Act as a role model for the company’s culture
  • Stay active with key industry events, trends, and emerging ad technologies
  • Strengthen partner relationships by persistent face-time with clients
  • Direct account management responsibilities; managing Costco Canada East & West for all CBP brands

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be a proven sales executive with 7+ years’ experience within the Canadian CPG industry
  • Strong understanding and knowledge of the sales management within the Canadian grocery industry (experience trade fund management, analytical skills as examples)
  • Ability to develop sales strategy and manage sales planning and performance KPI’s
  • Strong analytical thinking, strategic problem solving, organizational, and time management skills
  • Existing CPG relationships and have the ability to be a relationship builder who is self-motivated with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Effective communicator across internal departments, as well as with external partners and clients
  • Excellent listening, negotiation and presentation skills
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with the drive and passion to succeed
  • Highly proficient with Excel and PPT
  • Must be willing to travel up to 20% of the time,
  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Direct Sales Management Experience within the Canadian Grocery industry
  • Well-established relationships within the Canadian Grocery industry
