Nk’Mip Cellars is a successful joint
venture partnering Arterra Wines Canada with the Osoyoos Indian Band. Featuring
premium, award winning VQA wines in the south Okanagan we can offer an aspiring
team player, a one-of-a-kind opportunity to immerse yourself into the heart of
British Columbia wine country and provide hands on experience with premium VQA
wine production.
As we are a smaller facility the
position demands involvement with all aspects of harvest, sorting, cap
management, inoculations, additions, racking’s, transfers, barrel work, and of
course the inevitable cleaning and sanitizing.
We are an upbeat group, serious about
making the best wine possible – but we still like to enjoy harvest. In
addition, we are always willing to discover new methods of production that you
may have experienced during your previous employment and will appreciate your
feedback on tasting wines as they develop. As you would anticipate there will
be various physical demands as well the need to occasionally work long hours
and some weekends.
Preference will be given to those who
provide a detailed application including a cover letter outlining your
experience and industry ambitions.
The Role:
Your key responsibilities and duties
are as follows:
- Grape Processing: Grape and
Juice Reception, Destemming, Crushing, and Pressing
- Fermentation Management:
Inoculations, Nutrient Additions, Sampling, Pump Overs, Punch Downs, Sugar
Monitoring, and Digging Out of Fermenters
- Cellar Work: Barrel Work,
Racking, Product Transfers, Product Blending, and Product Additions
- Cellar Sanitation: Tank
& Barrel Cleaning, and general cleaning of facility and winery
equipment
- Support all Basic Lab Analysis
- Follow all safety procedures
as directed by standard operating procedures
- Work Order Completion and
Compliance
- Safe Operation of Cellar
Forklift and Other Winery Equipment (Training Provided)
- Inventory Control
Job Requirements:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
required
- Motivated and passionate
about the wine industry
- Strong commitment to quality
with attention to detail.
- Candidate must be hands on,
dependable, and self-starting.
- Good problem solving
abilities along with basic logistic skills required.
- Ability to be trained in
confined space entry process and procedures.
- Teamwork and customer
service skills.
- Ability to communicate
effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Maintain an organized work
place.
- Ability to lift 55 lbs.
- Willing to work long hours,
shift work,and overtime if necessary
- Prior experience and
relevant education preferred, but not a necessity
