The Vice President, Innovation and Business Development will report into the Executive Vice President Operations & Winemaking. This new to the organization role is responsible for leading the Innovation Leadership teamto commercialize the product ideas that will delight our consumers. Lead the R&D and Packaging Tech teams to support the above. Lead Operations transformational projects from development to commercialization, such as; Merger & Acquisition (M&A) evaluation and integration. Lead large transformational projects including Direct to Consumer (DTC) Fulfilment, major Innovation and major capital projects. The successful candidate for this role will be a part of our Arterra leadership team (ALT) and will demonstrate exceptional leadership skills with the ability to coach & develop those around them. You are a proactive, innovative & collaborative leader. You are an effective and engaging communicator who builds strong relationships and effectively leads change.

Key Responsibilities

Innovation

  • Transform Marketing and Sales ideas and concepts into products that achieve design requirements while delivering on targets (capability, feasibility, profitability), turning customer/consumer needs into solutions in support of the Value creation Plan.
  • Active member of Innovation Leadership squad to drive Innovation and NPD processes and governance, providing counsel and technical expertise related to the Operations business requirements for NPD execution and product implementation.
  • Lead decision-making for new beverage techniques, validation for liquid and package prototypes (sensory, chemical, composition and safety) including trial & testing methods and procedural advancements for production.
  • Actively explore and research future commercial opportunities and Operations Innovation.

Business Development

  • Lead Operations transformational projects from development to commercialization
  • Identify, recommend, review and implement projects/opportunities to support Value Creation Plan including M&A projects, reducing costs, reducing non-value adding activities, expanding capacity/capabilities and improving customer service
  • Work cross-functionally to manage bottlenecks, provide escalation management, anticipate and make trade-offs, balance the business needs versus technical constraints, and maximize business benefit while building great consumer experiences
  • Oversee the Operations Packaging and Research & Development teams, providing leadership to the team as
  • Coach and develop staff to nurture a high performing team committed to enhancing a continuous improvement culture. Seek out and implement best practice to optimize efficiencies and prioritize critical initiatives and functions.

Education

  • in a Science related discipline (Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology)

Experience

  • 10 years’ experience within a CPG industry in a technical capacity (e.g. product development, research, quality assurance)
  • 8-10 years leadership experience, business management, performance management, recruitment, employee relations
