Reporting to the Director of Innovation, the Sr. Brand Manager - Innovation will lead ideation and project management of breakthrough, disruptive, long lead innovations. This role is responsible for leading and working collaboratively with cross functional teams through: concept creation, evaluation, feasibility assessment, financial assessments, product development, customer sell in, demand planning and all the elements of the go-to-market bundle. An important element of the role is the brand concept creation as well as the marketing and communication plan to support a successful launch and growth trajectory.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with consumer insights and portfolio analytics teams to deep dive into category data, consumer insight studies, and external trend insights to develop brand concepts and ideas to fill the longer term innovation pipeline and deliver against VCP commitments
  • Work collaboratively with R&D teams to develop product bundles to deliver on innovation ideas. Support the supply chain team in identifying new supplier/production models for differentiated innovation concepts.
  • Work with portfolio analytics and finance team to generate business models for innovation ideas with min 3 year time horizons. Assess and provide recommendations for specific innovations to pursue, with compelling rationale for SLT and the BOD.
  • Lead cross functional project teams in the commercialization of long term innovation concepts. Engage closely with project management and R&D partners as well as finance, legal, customer marketing, RGM and sales to plan all aspects of the product development
  • Develop and execute brand strategy, including positioning, pricing, and compelling marketing communication strategy for launch and ongoing support of the business. Partner closely with Sales, Insights, and Customer Marketing create and deliver a compelling selling story for customers to secure strong distribution. Monitor and track performance and adjust plans accordingly to ensure delivery of business commitments.
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned or required

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing or related field (Preference in business degree. MBA an asset)
  • Experience: 7-10 years marketing and/or comparable experience with a recognized Tier 1 consumer packaged goods company, or similar caliber (eg. retailer or other industry)
  • Experience in leading diverse, cross functional teams, working on complicated projects.
  • Experience in innovation.
  • Experience with briefing and leading creative development and assessing creative and media plans
  • Creative and innovative
  • Resilient and persistent, comfortable with ambiguity and managing through adversity
  • Strategic and analytical with the ability to draw actionable conclusions from multiple data sources.
