We are looking for a talented freelance packaging specialist with an obsession to detail, deep understanding of design hierarchy, expert skills usingAdobe Creative Suite andan overall passion for producing great work. Individual will need to work independently and collaboratively within a team as needed and be equally at ease working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Must be able to examine a project’s typography to ensure that text elements are balanced and free of errors, so they need a strong grasp of typography and editing
  • Frequently need to resize and adjust images before projects are ready to go, so some experience with image editing is vital in this role
  • Highly organized with a strong attention to detail and have an understanding of legal mandatories
  • Experience with package design, including creating/editing dielines and prototypes, is a must for a package designer position.
  • Familiarity with print on different materials/substrates and adjusting artwork accordingly is essential.
  • They must also have strong problem-solving skills to quickly identify and rectify mistakes.
  • Must be a good listener and collaborate with multiple stakeholders both within an organization and outside vendors to meet branding and business objectives, budget, time, safety and legal requirements.
  • Must be a good listener and be able to collaborate with marketing team members and designers to ensure branding goals, business objectives, budget, time, safety and legal requirements are met.
  • Strong understanding of prepress, file preparation and production processes is essential
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment.

File management:

  • Must have experience in file transfers and be able to navigate several file contact points (ftp, servers) in order to download/upload artwork for team access
  • Strong file management skills are required in order to collect and prioritize assets prior to project initiation, as well as maintaining file naming conventions for archiving

Some of the software that a Packaging Designer may use includes:

  • Adobe Creative Suite including Illustrator, Photoshop, or Acrobat
  • MS Office

Key Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience in graphic design, branding and packaging standards in relevant industry
