Job Description

The Equipment operator is responsible for the safe operation of all equipment. This role is responsible for maximizing output with no quality defects on all lines as required. Works with the production crew to manufacture finished product that meets company specifications. Provides break coverage for the production line. Completes nightly sanitation processes on equipment following established written procedures. Sets up equipment for next day’s production requirements. Transports next day’s material requirements to prep area. Cleans equipment or areas as required such as bulk storage tanks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assures compliance of all packaging activities to company policy and health and safety.
  • Adheres to company policies and procedures related to GMP, HACCP and BRC requirements
  • Maintain a continuous production flow by making the necessary adjustments and corrections to equipment
  • Works in cooperation with production staff to achieve departmental objectives.
  • Ensures that product quality parameters are met.
  • Ensure timely startup of equipment.
  • Always ensure use of the correct materials.
  • Diligently record and maintain all quality inspections and downtime as required
  • Coordinates maintenance and equipment issues with the Production Manager and Maintenance Mechanic.
  • Minimize losses or raw material and report excessive defective material
  • Uses inventory principle (FIFO) for proper raw material rotation to ensure that optimal freshness of finished goods is maintained.
  • Assist other positions on the line as required to maintain continuous production and assist with line changes

Qualifications

Education

  • Grade 12

Experience

  • Less than 1 year
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment an asset
  • Experienced forklift operator
  • Wine knowledge an asset
  • Effective communication skills
  • Multi-tasking
  • Team player
  • Goal oriented
  • Mechanical aptitude (equipment knowledge)
  • ISO 9001:3000
  • HACCP
  • WHMIS
  • GMP

Working Conditions

  • Three sift rotational work may be required.
  • Must be able and willing to work overtime as required.
  • This position may require physical effort which entails repetitive lifting and moving up to and including 50lbs
  • Tasks may be physically demanding

Special Conditions

  • Some outside work may be required in all weather
  • May work in noisy areas
