Reporting to the Executive VP Supply
chain this role will focus on building and executing a National Maintenance,
Reliability and Capital expenses Strategy, deploying best practices and
standards across all Arterra’s facilities. The Director will provide
leadership, coaching and development for all maintenance site leaders, and
champions the principles and culture Total company productivity and
reliability. As a leader in the organization, you will set the strategic
direction and support the team functions for Capex planning and execution as
well as productivity improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Reliability strategy execution
-
Create and execute the
strategic plan for technical services and translate that plan into
business objectives for the team.
- Champions the Maintenance
Management System and implements improvements and upgrades to ensure
efficient and effective use of resources.
- Provides leadership,
technical expertise, and training on asset monitoring, PM/PdM tools, and
spare parts inventory strategies.
- Develop standard processes
for corrective action plans that improve asset care.

Work with Operations to
integrate capital projects into the asset care program at each facility.
Provide leadership and support for equipment reliability improvement
projects, focused on reducing breakdowns and unplanned downtime
- Enable processes for root
cause investigations and develop/track key performance indicators (KPI's)
to improve work performance
- Advise operations in
developing an optimal replacement strategy for the main mechanical
equipment and identify and recommend critical spare parts and follow up
implementation.

Assist maintenance and
engineering in eliminating difficult or reoccurring failures.
- Benchmark, develop and train
plant maintenance teams in mean time to repair (MTTR) and mean time
between failures (MTBF) processes, to ensure a continuous improvement of
all assets.

Incorporate continuous
improvement feedback into the maintenance planning and execution strategy.
Productivity improvement
- Participate in any/all
company related improvement initiatives, as required.
- Develop a strategic
productivity game plan for the next 5 years
- Build the right cadence of
reviews to develop a productivity mindset within supply chain operations
team and with cross-functional team
Capex
- Provides subject matter
expertise on capital projects and equipment selections, with a focus on
optimizing to equipment reliability and asset care.
- Supports the development of
capex program for each facility.
- Work closely with the
Operations Team in managing cross-functional objectives and projects,
ensuring ongoing and frequent communication touch points.
- Key contributor for new
equipment selection, FAT’S and reliability metrics within the
commissioning process.
- Utilize lifecycle cost
analysis (LCA) for decision making and evaluation of rebuild vs
replacement alternatives on assets.
Team management
- Create and develop a
high-functioning and engaged team, that is aligned on clear deliverables.
- Foster a team environment to
fully support the objectives of plant operations, using various metrics to
measure maintenance performance, continuous improvement and asset
reliability.
- Develops team members to
increase productivity and align with their individual development goals
- Establishes clear, concise
key results that are aligned with business objectives
- Creates an environment that
celebrates and enable our business culture
- Communicates effectively up,
down, and laterally to ensure alignment of work
- Provides purpose, context,
and direction to team members in addition to coaching and mentoring the
next generation of managers and leaders
What you bring:
-
Bachelor of Mechanical
Engineering or a related discipline
- 5 to 7 years plant
maintenance position, preferably in food and beverage industry
- Extensive experience
implementing maintenance processes.
- Qualified engineer
certification
- Budgeting and cost management
experience
- Demonstrated Project
Management skills
- Bilingualism (French and
English) a preference
- Strong computer skills and
knowledge of computerized maintenance systems, MS office/google suite
applications, etc.
- Ability to travel
approximately 30%
