Job Description

Thomas, Large & Singer Inc. (TLS) is currently seeking a Trade Promotion Analyst to join our growing team. TLS currently uses the AFS Technologies TradePro Retail Enterprise platform (formerly “MEI”) for planning and tracking customer promotional spending.

TLS (www.tlscanada.com) has been a preferred buy-sell distributor in the food and consumer packaged goods industry for over 100 years, providing back-office and supply chain solutions to many Canadian and international clients. TLS is a dynamic organization that provides employees with ample professional challenges and opportunity for growth and development. TLS currently provides services to several CPG manufacturers including Post Foods, Tata Global Beverages (Tetley), Starbucks Coffee Company, Perfetti Van Melle, Tim Hortons and many others. TLS also operates a public warehouse in Brampton to support the distribution of our products.

The position will report to the Trade Promotion Manager and will be based out of our head office in Markham, Ontario.

Responsibilities:

  • Investigate and respond to internal, client and broker requests on a timely fashion.
  • Strong communication and collaboration between the TPM Team, Business Managers, AR and Supply Chain is essential.
  • Train and coach TPM system users including internal employees and external clients.
  • Ability to proactively monitor, identify and facilitate improvements to create efficiencies.
  • Advise corrective actions to TPM system users, follow up on various recommendations and monitor their implementation.
  • Drive data integrity by conducting regular system audits and reconciliations to ensure the TPM and ERP systems are synchronized.
  • Regularly review activities to ensure Clients and Brokers keep sales and spending plans current and complete.
  • Analyze customer deductions that do not match authorized promotions and work with Brokers to validate those deductions or secure customer repayment.
  • Spearhead regular sales and promotional spending reviews with Brokers and Clients.
  • Coach Clients and Brokers in evaluating promotion ROI and effectiveness.
  • Generate import files for client forecasts, budgets and objectives.
  • Create and maintain internal documents and training documentation.
  • Liaise with AFS to troubleshoot for resolution.
  • Recommend TPM system enhancements to AFS and other AFS users.
  • Responsible to evaluate and communicate new TPM system features.

Qualifications:

  • Strong interpersonal, communication (oral and written), and cross functional team-based skills.
  • The candidate must have an outgoing personality and be comfortable dealing with larger groups.
  • Possess strong analytical and organization skills as well as the ability to work in a multitask environment.
  • Ability to react quickly and effectively to change while demonstrating a proactive sense of urgency to manage multiple priorities.
  • Must be detail-oriented and a self-motivated individual.
  • Strong project management skills and must be able to collaborate across all departments.
  • Ability to handle and resolve conflict.
  • Experience in the consumer packaged goods industry is preferred.
  • Experience with Trade Promotion Management system, especially AFS or MEI is an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Information Systems or equivalent experience.
  • Some local travel is required.
