Position summary

The purpose of this highly analytical role is to provide strategic and financial leadership on all issues facing the Clorox sales team. The analytic support provided will facilitate fact based decision making and improve Clorox brand growth and profitability with customers.

This position requires an expert in Excel to deal with high volume of data extraction and management, such as: manipulation, queries, interpretation, etc.

Key responsibilities

Leadership & Coaching:

  • Proactively identify opportunities and risks with recommendations to effectively drive change or resolution with customer teams
  • Own all elements of the MEI sales and trade forecasting tool which include recommending process / tool enhancements, leading implementation of changes to MEI, train / coach sales & OTC teams on how to use tool, be the MEI super user
  • Mentor, train, and provide guidance to the Claims & Deductions Analyst in order to further develop that role as best-in-class
  • Drives significant improvement in individual capability, department productivity and organizational effectiveness through sustainable people and process improvements.

Planning & Analysis:

  • Participate in the assessment and recommend actions to address customer performance risks and opportunities
  • Prepare, analyze and report month-end results to Business Units & Sales Teams
  • Provide risk & opportunity guidance and forecast assumptions on trade spend to business teams
  • Built relationships with customer teams and became trusted go to person for analytics.

Trade Management:

  • Track actual spending against trade budget
  • Provide analytics to determine financial effectiveness of customer promotions.
  • Review selected Internal Control Compliance (ICC) Process quarterly self-assessments. Identify and implement corrective actions relating to internal control issues
  • Manage post audits

Project Analysis:

  • Provide financial analysis on all major customer team initiatives, including pricing, profitability and sales management initiatives
  • Provide additional support for ad hoc Customer Team and/or Finance initiatives

Process Improvements:

  • Develop, improve and maintain efficient systems and processes to facilitate financial planning, analysis and reporting to Customer Team and to Sr. Management

Position requirements

  • Undergraduate degree with 6-8 years progressive experience in sales finance, strategy, financial analysis and / or business planning
  • Accounting designation (CMA, CGA or CA)
  • MBA an asset
  • Consumer Packaged Goods or Retailer experience preferred, but not required

Skills and Abilities

  • Superior analytic skills with impeccable attention to detail
  • Expert in Microsoft Office Suite, and Excel (super-user, Subject Matter Expert level)
  • Expert in data extraction, building and querying tables from the data extracted, report on the data.
  • Familiarity with complex accounting and reporting packages
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including experience working on teams and collaborating with others to drive to a solution to more senior stakeholders
  • Drives improvement in department productivity and organizational effectiveness through sustainable people and process improvements
  • Strong communication skills
  • Solution mindset - drive for results and a passion for simplification, efficiency, and continuous improvement
