Technical Sales Lead – Process Equipment, Pressure Vessels & Heat Exchangers

Our Client, a Custom-Engineered Steel Products Manufacturer, located in Stratford, ON is looking to hire a Technical Sales LeadProcess Equipment, Pressure Vessels and Heat Exchangers to join their growing Business!

The Position:

The Technical Sales & Business Development Lead acts as a key sales contact / representative for Engineered Products to provide increased exposure of Engineered Products in the market place with an eye to sustainable growth opportunities, with a focus on fluid/powder processing. The Technical Sales & Business Development Lead will work with the management team to develop strategic sales plans and execute a functional sales approach. They will develop and maintain a strong relationship with the customer base and provide insight and customer feedback for development of marketing strategies.

Coupled with individual sales responsibilities, you will be actively involved in:

  • Collaborating with the sales and management team to develop targeted strategies for sales growth, quantifying opportunities and ownership of performance toward targets;
  • Providing updated status on potential clients and projects;
    • Responding to incoming customer requests in terms of RFQs, proposal preparation and on-going customer contact; including chemical and industrial mixing, process vessels, heat exchangers and integrated systems;
    • Translating customer requirements into technical solutions and working with estimating staff to develop proposals & pricing;
    • Providing insight and customer feedback for development of marketing strategies;
  • You will take ownership of defining target market(s), quantifying opportunities and approach strategy;
  • You will execute the sales plan in terms of information gathering on company structure/purchasing priorities, thorough communication and preparing account plan summaries;
  • You will need to understand key project priorities and competitive price/feature scenarios as well as identify key areas of risk;
  • You will assess projects for suitability and review with management;
  • You will develop and provide solutions around fabrication and process solutions.

What you Offer:

  • You have a technical background with 5 years minimum experience in selling technical equipment to industrial equipment/fabrication buyers with a focus on chemical & industrial equipment applications;
  • You have a good understanding of industrial equipment relating to process equipment, pressure vessels and heat exchangers;
  • You have a proven ability to research firms/opportunities and develop and execute approaches;
  • You are action oriented and respond to new opportunities, including travel (Must have a valid license, suitable vehicle and available to travel to the U.S.);
  • You are computer savvy including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint);
  • You are a Mechanical Technologist ‎or Engineer or you possess equivalent industry experience
  • You have excellent communication and presentation skills and ability to influence individuals at various levels

  • You are passionate, results driven, know how to balance the need of the customer vs. the needs of the company and possess a hunter mentality which allows you to leverage current relationships; as well as break down barriers to access new clients;
  • You possess a knowledge of mixers, pressure vessels, tank and/or heat exchangers (additional exposure to system integration, level/pumping controls are an asset);
  • You have a process discipline mindset;
  • You understand the strategic and tactical aspects of technical sales and can leverage strategies to exceed your goals;
