National Account Manager (Consumer Goods, Remote)


Our client, a growing Consumer Healthcare/ Medical Device Company, is looking to hire a National Account Manager to join their team on a Permanent, Full-Time basis.

This will be a Remote role, with the company’s headquarters in Bracknell, Berkshire, UK.

Reporting to the Head of Retailer Sales UK, EU & Canada, this role will be responsible for delivering profitable, sustainable retailer growth in Canada through the management and expansion of key national accounts, alongside the development of new retail opportunities to increase distribution and market presence.

This is a hands-on commercial role combining national account management, customer planning and new business development. The role will focus on strengthening partnerships with existing customers such as Shoppers Drug Mart (SDM), Wellwise, London Drugs, Jean Coutu, McKesson and Best Buy, while unlocking new opportunities with major retailers including Walmart Pharmacy, Costco Pharmacy, Rexall, Canadian Tire and TSC.

Job Responsibilities:

1. National Account Management & Customer Planning

  • Own and develop key Canadian retail accounts including Shoppers Drug Mart (SDM), Wellwise, London Drugs, Jean Coutu, McKesson and Best Buy
  • Build annual customer plans, JBPs, promotional calendars, distribution targets and growth strategies aligned to revenue and margin objectives.
  • Lead all customer interactions, including negotiations on pricing, promotions, ranging, visibility and activation.
  • Ensure strong execution of sell-in, sell-out and in-store activation, with clear tracking of account performance KPIs.
  • Align forecasts, promotional plans and launch timelines with internal stakeholders across Marketing, Supply Chain, Finance and Operations.

2. Distribution Expansion & New Business Development

  • Drive expansion in Pharmacy, Healthcare and Mass/Clubs channels in accounts such as Walmart Pharmacy, Costco Pharmacy, Rexall, Canadian Tire and TSC.
  • Build and maintain a strong pipeline of new business opportunities across retail and adjacent channels.
  • Develop compelling customer-specific value propositions and commercial cases to secure new listings.
  • Lead end-to-end onboarding of new accounts, from negotiation through to launch execution.
  • Leverage market insight and industry relationships to identify and unlock high-value opportunities.

3. Commercial Execution & Trade Performance

  • Ensure effective execution of product launches, promotional plans, trade marketing activities and in-store visibility initiatives.
  • Work closely with Marketing to align retailer activation with media, brand and shopper objectives.
  • Monitor performance of promotions and trade investment, optimising ROI and improving effectiveness over time.

4. Financial & Performance Management

  • Own revenue delivery, gross-to-net and trade investment for the Canadian retail channel.
  • Manage customer P&Ls with discipline, ensuring profitable growth and strong return on investment.
  • Maintain accurate forecasting and demand planning in collaboration with Operations.
  • Track performance against targets, identifying risks and implementing corrective actions proactively.

5. Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner closely with Sales, Marketing, Finance and Operations teams to deliver aligned execution.
  • Collaborate with Amazon & Marketplace and Direct-to-Consumer teams to ensure clear channel strategy and consistency in pricing, promotions and messaging.
  • Provide market, customer and competitor insights to inform pricing, product and commercial strategy.

6. Measures of Success

  • Delivery of revenue, gross-to-net and profit contribution targets in Canada.
  • Growth in distribution across key national retailers.
  • Expansion of distribution and share of shelf.
  • Successful acquisition and onboarding of new retail accounts.
  • Quality and accuracy of customer planning, forecasting and execution.
  • Improvement in promotional effectiveness and account profitability.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Post secondary degree or diploma from an accredited college or university.
  • 2 – 5+ years of retail National Account Management experience, preferably with experience selling into Mass Merchant or Drug retailers, such as Costco, Canadian Tire, Best Buy, Shoppers Drug Mart, Walmart, Wellwise, Rexall, London Drugs, Jean Coutu, Lawton Drugs or McKesson.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Bilingual in English and French (an asset).

Knowledge & Ability:

  • Proven success developing, and implementing joint business plans, promotions and forecasting.
  • Proven success directly managing and selling to national retailers.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and grow relationships within Canadian retailers.

Other Skills and Abilities:

  • Highly commercial and numerate, with strong analytical and planning skills.
  • Strong negotiator and relationship-builder, comfortable engaging with senior retail stakeholders.
  • Self-starter with the ability to operate independently in a standalone market role.
  • Results-driven and execution-focused, with strong ownership and accountability.
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Clear and confident communicator, able to influence internally and externally.

Compensation: $130,000 - $150,000 base, plus bonus and car allowance
