Marketing Manager, Schlage Canada

Reporting to the Vice President of Marketing, the Marketing Manager will manage all brand responsibility for Schlage brand for all channels retail, ecommerce, single family builders and residential wholesale channels. The ideal candidate has marketing, communications and retail channel experience. They are a part of an energetic team responsible for developing our growing Schlage residential business across Canada. They are detail oriented, strategic and analytical, with the ability to think outside the box. They will be responsible for increasing our understanding of the DIY customer, creating actionable insights and turning these insights into programs that will give customers more reasons to buy Schlage. They will lead the evolution of our DIY customer experience on-line and in-store. They will lead and be accountable for high-impact, quantifiable implementation of integrated marketing plans and initiatives to promote the Schlage brand to the Canadian consumer. This position will have overall responsibility for the design, production, delivery, and vendor management of marketing activities for collateral, interactive, video, and trade shows, as well as Schlage Brand Management activities and coordination. This position will manage the Schlage residential product portfolio and lead the commercialization process for all new Schlage products launched in Canada.

What You Will Do:

  • Develop and execute a localized marketing plan aligned with brand, store objectives, and within budget parameters.

  • Work closely with the retail channel team to execute sales and marketing plans.

  • Network with associations, clubs, contractors, designers and retail partners.

  • Execute store community events aligned with the consumer calendar to maximize brand engagement in the market.

  • Analyze and report on data to take a 360 view of all analytics to support the brand and help shape consumer outreach and promotion activities.

  • Produce monthly reports on engagement from web traffic, digital advertising and social media events.

  • Promote and monitor quality service among co-workers through training and by acting as a positive role model.

  • Develop consumer marketing plans and advertising campaigns, based on global creative development modified as required for the Canadian consumer, to profitably build consumer equity for the Brand.

  • Execute the consumer marketing plans in collaboration with the marketing group, the retail channel team, packaging, PR and creative agencies and media planning

  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of core category to ensure both consumer and customer marketing programs are optimized; perform strategic analysis and consumer segmentation analysis, as appropriate.

  • Utilize share data and POS data to generate conclusions about promotion effectiveness, shifts in consumer behavior and long term market trends.

  • Develop long-term brand strategies including planning for and launching new products, presenting business opportunities derived from analysis, where applicable.

  • Collaborate with the sales organization to develop Sales Toolkits to ensure execution to the overall brand strategy and market coverage: retail, ecommerce, single family builders and residential wholesale channels

  • Communicate brand marketing initiatives to the retail channel team, operations, customer service, RESPRO builders and residential wholesalers and the leadership team.

  • Assist in development and presentation of customer presentations, as necessary, for: new product launches; annual merchandising and promotional plans; consumer sales and share trend data, new strategic initiatives.

  • Develop and execute a localized marketing plan aligned with brand, store objectives, and within budget parameters.

  • Ensure the strategic integrity of Brand is maintained, based on North American developed Brand strategies modified as required for the Canadian environment.

  • Budget and control all marketing expenditures related to portfolio.

What You Will Need:

  • A Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications or a related field.

  • 7+ years of creative development experience in Brand Management, Creative Services, or agency experience.

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience leading and managing a team, creative communications, or branding.

  • Superior understanding of strategic marketing communications, hands-on experience with targeted segmentation, messaging, integrated marketing processes and related deliverables.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, professional maturity and judgment, and be capable of communicating with a diverse range of individuals at all professional levels.

  • Extensive experience in areas of strategic planning, marketing, market research, brand preference research, promotions/advertising and creative execution of communications campaigns.

  • Strong computer and technology skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to manage creative output with both strategy (fits with brand expression and objectives) and executional detail (costs, timing, consequences, overruns, capability assessments).

  • The ability to express complex topics in a simple, straightforward manner.

  • To participate in monthly planning and budget reviews to manage monthly costs and year-to-date finances.

  • The drive for results while maintaining focus in fast-paced, demanding environments.

  • Superb ability to clearly communicate concepts, ideas and visions into actionable accountable assignments, as well as defining project goals and guidelines to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Attention to detail with the ability to work on multiple projects
